LT: First of all: How was your day so far?
Ali: You know, my day was great, because I finally slept ten hours. I don’t even getting three or four hours the last week and last night I slept all night long.
Matty: That’s great!
Ali:So I woke up and everything was really good!
Matty: I slept nine hours and woke up at eight o´clock.
Ali: Nice! So good so far!
LT: Did you get a chance to see city today?
Matty: No, we didn’t get a chance to go and see the city. We were supposed to get a photo shoot and then we had a loooong soundcheck. Our soundcheck sucks…
Ali: Yeah, we’re running about an hour behind right now. But you know, there is a window at my bank so I was watching, as we were driving in. Looked very pretty.
Matty: Yep, looked great!
LT: Okay, from now on I’ll give you some terms and you can tell me anything what comes up into your mind! Let’s begin with your career aspiration!
Ali: I wanted to be a doctor, when I was a kid.
Matty: I wanted to fly helicopters!
LT: Did you like to go to school?
Ali: Yeah, I liked it! I had a great time in school!
Matty: I didn’t mind it. It wasn’t my favourite. I didn’t hang around with the kids, I didn’t talk to anyone. But I was friend with everybody: The cool kids, the nerdy kids, I was quite in the middle.
Ali: He was really good in sports!
Matty: I played baseball – that’s all I did.
LT: So what have you been: The nerd or the class clown?
Ali: I was proper more of the nerd.
Matty: He was class president!
Ali: Class nerd president! (Laughing)
LT to Matty: And you?
Matty: I was right in the middle. If there was a chart arranged from one to hundred – I was ever fifty probably.
Ali: You’re a nerd clown?
Matty: Yeah, a nerd clown! (Laughing)
LT: Can you remember your best and your worst school subjects?
Matty: I think history was my favourite. This is what I got my degree in. And my least favourite was ehm…. reading! I can read, I just hated doing the assignment. I wanted to spend my time with playing the guitar or something else. So I didn’t really do the assignments. But now I read a lot!
Ali: He does read a lot. For me the worst was statistics. And my favourite was organic chemistry.
LT: Okay… I hate this one…
Ali: Really? (Laughing) I used to teach it at college.
Matty: Uh… do you need help? He can help you! (Everyone’s laughing)
LT: Okay, I’ll will phone you up! Tell my about your worst habit!
Ali: My worst habit? (Start thinking) I think my worst habit is, I can’t fall asleep until really really late. And that makes me sleeping most of the day. And that can waste my whole day!
Matty: Especially on tour. I don’t know how you are at home, but he sleeps late!
Ali: Yeah, it’s always like that….
Matty: On one tour, he slept until four o’clock every day! You’re a night person!x
LT: If you could switch body with someone for a day – would you do it? And with whom?
Ali: Yes and Kobe Bryant!
Matty: Yes and Britney Spears! (Laughter)
Ali (laughing): I don’t wanna know why… – okay I do wanna know why!
Matty: I would be Britney Spears and I would shave my head a couple of times, I would eat a lot and switch bodies back!
Ali: Just to make her fat? (Laughing)
Matty: Yeah, surprise! (Laughter)
LT: Which was the nicest compliment you ever got for your music?
Matty (starts slowly after a long silence): I think the biggest compliment for music…
Ali: Oh boy…
Matty: … is any time someone pays to see a band playing! Honestly! Because… I have no money and I wanna spend my money on certain things. Kids have a choice: They have tons of bands and if they spend their money our band: THAT’S awesome! I think that’s rad!
Ali: Yeah, I think that’s really cool. For me the biggest compliment was one time after a show (sniffs), I‘ sorry, (nearly crying) Matty came up to me and said: ‚Good show of you!‘
Matty: And I did! (Nearly crying as well) And he had the best show, he had the best show ever (pants for air, while Ali starts laughing). And it was a… a good show!
Ali: Good show!
Matty: Good answer!
Ali: Thanks! (Laughter)
LT: And which was the worst statement about your music?
Ali: Oh man, there have been so many…
Matty: One time after the show, Ali came up to me (nearly crying) and he said: ‚Matty, this was the worst show you’ve ever played!‘
Ali (laughing): I did!
Matty: And that was it! The worst… horrible.
LT: Okay, before we all start to cry again: Who should cover on of your songs?
Ali: Make what?
Matty: Who should cover one of our songs…
Ali: Ooooh! I would really like to see – can it be a duet. Two people singing? Because we have two singers…Right? I would like Justin Bieber to do all my parts and I would like Lady Gaga to do all your parts!
Matty: Thank you! Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber? I would like Roseanne Barr…-
Ali: She doesn’t sing…
Matty: She doesn’t sing? Okay, then I would like Donny and Marie Osmond. (Laughing) Cause they’re good! They’re old…
Ali: Who would do my part? Marie?
Matty: Yeah! I was Lady Gaga!!?!
Ali: Okay… that’s true.
LT: Nice ones – tell me about your must-haves, while you’re on tour!
Ali: Our must-haves? Well we have a bar on stage: We must have alcohol. And now while he have a bar on stage, we must have a bar on stage!
Matty: Yes! We also must have the internet. Really, we can’t live without internet. It’s like our portal to back home.
Ali: We don’t even talk to each other anymore, sitting in the dressroom, everyone’s online.
Matty: We text each other. I can’t believe I’m actually talking to Ali right now.
Ali: It’s our first talk during weeks!
Matty: It’s so weird!
LT: Okay, let’s get to the last question. As I told you our blog is called „Lieblingstape“, I want to know which kind of music we would find on your favourite mixtape?
Ali: Can I just say right now: I’m addicted to The Adverts?! That’s all I listen to, so I would defently put as many of their songs as possible on a tape. And also a lot of rap music!
Matty: Van Halen, Poison – just something like this!
LT: Fine, thank you for taking some time!
Matty: Thanks for letting us be your first american band!
